CARYVILLE – Filling the vacant council seat was at the top of the agenda when the Caryville Town Council met in regular session on May 11.
Seat 1 was left vacant when long time Council Member Bill Pate passed away in April. With a year and a half left on the four-year term, council will need to appoint someone to the seat for the remainder of that term.
Council members declared the vacancy but voted to table filling the seat until they convene again in regular session Tuesday, June 8, in hope that someone will volunteer for the duty. The council also tabled appointment to the vice-chairman position, a duty previously held by Pate.
