Southport man arrested on drug charges
A Southport man is in custody on drug charges after a traffic stop by Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
On March 2, WCSO deputies conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Orange Hill Road and Quail Hollow Boulevard of a truck pulling a camper. When deputies made contact with the occupants, they appeared to be nervous, according to a press release from WCSO.
Deputies ran a check of the tag and discovered it had been replaced and was no longer valid.
A search of the vehicle found drugs and paraphernalia resulting in the owner of the vehicle, 36_year_old Robert Allan Swearingen and his unidentified passenger being taken into custody.
Swearingen is charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of paraphernalia.
