Florida unemployment numbers released

The latest unemployment numbers for Florida are in.

The September unemployment rate for Washington County was 3.5%. With a total labor force of 10,440, the unemployment level is 366.

Washington County was ranked 25th out of 67 Florida counties in terms of the unemployment rate. 

The September rate is a .1% increase from the August rate of 3.4%. The 2022 September rate was 2.9%. 

“Florida’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 2.8 percent in September 2023, up 0.1 percentage point from the August 2023 rate, and up 0.1 percentage point from a year ago,†the Florida Department of Commerce said about the latest release. “There were 309,000 jobless Floridians out of a labor force of 11,154,000. The U.S. unemployment rate was 3.8 percent in September.â€
