Due to a forecast of potential rain, the Chipley Christmas Festival originally scheduled for Dec. 1 has been moved to Dec. 21. The parade will still happen on Dec. 21 at 5:30 p.m.
“Due to the unpredictable rain forecast, we’ve made the hard choice to reschedule our beloved Christmas festival. We understand this change might bring disappointment, but fear not!” an announcement on the Christmas Fest Facebook page said. “We know it has taken some time to make this announcement but a lot of work went into securing the changes and we’re determined to keep the festive spirit alive and ensure everyone has a fantastic time!”
The Dec. 21 event will be from 5-9 p.m. It will still be in Downtown Chipley.
“The Grinch may try to steal Christmas but the festival team refuses to let Chipley go without a fun-filled night!” the Facebook announcement said. “We know change isn’t always easy, but this gives us an opportunity to make our Christmas celebration even more memorable.”
The weather also forced changes to other nearby events–Wausau canceled a Dec. 2 Christmas tree lighting and Esto moved a Santa in the Park event the same day to Bethlehem School, still from 10 a.m. to noon.
