Chipley continues to grow with development, as a new Dollar General store is expected to open in town.
The location will be at 1330 Jackson Avenue, around the corner from downtown and down the street from City Hall and the library. The site is currently a vacant field.
The City Council approved a development order and certificate of appropriateness for the store on Nov. 14, as recommended by the Planning and Zoning Commission.
The new Dollar General is coming to life courtesy of Terramore Development, a company based out of Georgia. Terramore Development was not able to be reached for comment about the project.
A staff report prepared in October for the Planning and Zoning Commission said the property will “aesthetically blend with the area and character of the city.”
The building will be 12,480 square feet.
We already have 2 Dollar general stores in chipley..How about putting a Family Dollar store instead.
Wow there’s already two other dollar stores in this small town. Why another dollar store?
Really this is kind of a bummer . Chipley is getting too big already , and we already have 2 other dollar stores so this seems like a waste and in my eyes will make the town feel a little more “hood” like .
Think about this after the new store is up and running the older store shut down due to not able to expand.
