Chipley Garden Club continues to beautify area

If you have been out to Falling Waters State Park lately, you will surely have noticed that the Joyce Carter Memorial Butterfly Garden is in its spring bloom time.

The garden is filled with an assortment of native wildflowers, including blanket flower (aka gallardia with its brilliant red and yellow blooms) and tickseed aka coreopsis lanceolata, the Florida state wildflower.

This year, the Chipley Garden Club has really put in the effort to keep the garden beautiful. This includes weeding, watering, and replanting as necessary. A new lifecycle of the butterfly sign has been installed,  along with plant identification markers.

The Garden Club also paid a visit to our local food pantry and presented a check for $250 and over 80 pounds of non-perishable food. This is part of the club’s community outreach program.

The Garden Club meets on the first Wednesday of each month during September through May at the Ag Center. The Club also meets“unofficially during the summer for socials and outings.

If you are interested in joining the Club or learning more about their activities, contact Club President Gweneth Collins at 85-260-4049.
