Traffic stop yields drug charges

A Chipley man is behind bars and facing drug-related charges after a traffic stop in Washington County.

At approximately 7:37 p.m. April 19, Washington County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a vehicle at the intersection of State Road 77 and Brickyard Road. As deputies made contact with the subject in the vehicle, they noticed an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. 

A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in 47-year-old Thalmus Samy Gray being taken into custody after deputies located illegal drugs and paraphernalia. 

Gray was booked into the Washington County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia.
