Providers partner with Florida Baptist Convention to provide free dental care

ESTO – Several local dentists are volunteering their time this week to provide free dental care through the Florida Baptist Mobile Dental Unit program.

The dental bus is offering limited free dental care, including extractions and fillings at host church First Baptist Church of Esto, to patients who went through the qualification process last month.

Providers who agreed to volunteer their time include Dr. Ernest Hooper and Dr. Hilary Whitaker of Bonifay, Dr. Sasha Minor of Chipley, and retired Chipley dentist, Dr. William E. Cox.

Minor, who also volunteers her services for pre-deployment dental screenings for the military, says she looks forward to these events.

“I love to give back my time, especially when it’s for veterans,” she said. “It’s the least we can do.”

Program participant Connie Johnson Connie Johnson says she is grateful for the service. “It means I can get some work done that I couldn’t afford otherwise.”

The Florida Baptist Convention states the mission of the Florida Baptist Mobile Dental Unit is to provide a ministry tool for the local church and association to build a bridge to the community through free dental care.
