Chipley man receives life sentence for sexually abusing 6-year-old

CHIPLEY – A 36-year-old Chipley man was sentenced on Monday to serve life in prison after being found guilty of sexually abusing a 6-year-old child.

Washington County Sheriff’s Office launched the investigation in 2019 after receiving reports from the Bay County Sheriff’s Office and Gulf Coast Children’s Advocacy Center that alleged 36-year-old Christopher Duffy forced a 6-year-old victim to perform a sexual act.

As a result of that investigation, Duffy was arrested and charged with sexually battery of a victim under the age of 12 years old.

Duffy remained in the custody of the Washington County Jail as he awaited trial and was found guilty on September 28, 2021 after a Washington County jury heard the facts of the case as presented by prosecuting attorney Megan Ford.

The sentence was handed down by Judge Timothy Register in the Washington County Courthouse.
