UPDATE: No injuries in plane crash


More details are emerging about the plane crash that occurred Sunday in the area of 5810 Douglas Ferry Road.

Washington County Sheriff’s Office and other responders are still on scene where a twin-engine airplane made a crash landing shortly before 8 p.m.

WCSO reports the aircraft was traveling from Panama City International Airport to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport when the first engine failed at 7,000 ft. and the second engine failed at approximately 5,000 ft.

The 58-year-old pilot declared an emergency and landed in a field near Douglas Ferry Road where the plane slid for approximately 225 yards before catching on fire.

The pilot was able to safely escape and did not sustain any injuries.

WCSO, along with fire and rescue units, arrived on the scene to extinguish the fire.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
