Fresh Start Anti-Drug Coalition holds youth fishing trip, cookout

The Fresh Start Anti-Drug Coalition recently held its inaugural youth fishing trip at Sneads Park in Sneads, Florida. The Washington County-based group focuses on engaging and uniting the community through a variety of activities and programs, including the coalition’s youth program, titled “ENG: Empowering the Next Generation.”

ENG organized the trip for youth ages 6-14.  During the trip, volunteers taught the youth how to set up a new fishing line, and then they were divided into groups with an assigned leader. After fishing with no results, they took a break and enjoyed grilled burgers and hot dogs for lunch. Time was also set aside for participants to talk to volunteers and then share with others something they learned about their leaders. The trip concluded with a game of kickball before group returned to Chipley.

Anyone interested in volunteering with Fresh Start Anti-Drug Coalition or making a donation is asked to call 850-260-9795 or 850-381-8173.
