In a milestone event marking decades of service, Rogers Insurance Agency is set to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The occasion will take place on April 19, 5-7 p.m., at the historic Downtown Chipley Train Station and Farmer’s Market area. The community is invited to join in honoring this milestone.

Rogers Insurance Agency was established in May 1974 by Gerald “Peewee” Rogers, an Air Force veteran. Following two decades of military service, Rogers, alongside his wife Kathleen and their four children, returned to Chipley to embark on a new chapter in the civilian world.

In 1982, the agency was formally incorporated, laying the groundwork for decades of continued growth and innovation.

A pivotal moment arrived in 1984 when Richard C. “Ricky” Miller joined the agency, pioneering its life and health operations. Over the years, Ricky’s leadership and dedication propelled the agency to new heights.

With the passing of the torch in 1992, Ricky and his wife Donna assumed ownership, ushering in a new era of leadership while preserving the legacy and values instilled by Gerald Rogers.

““We have grown over the years to writing all types of insurance excluding health insurance. We write insurance policies from personal to commercial,” Donna said. “We have always been active in supporting small business both locally and nationally. We love that instead of speaking to someone you don’t know, it’s being neighbors helping neighbors.”

The family legacy continued to flourish with the addition of Craig Miller in 2007, representing the third generation of dedicated service to the community and bringing a comprehensive array of licenses and certifications.

“We are as much a ministry as we are a business,” Donna said. “After Hurricane Michael came through, with no telephone and no computer we were here the next day because we needed and wanted to be here for our neighbors.”

Though founder Gerald Rogers passed away in 2017, his legacy lives on, serving as the guiding principles for three generations of service to Chipley and beyond.

“‘Serving you is our most important product’ was the motto my father established and it will always be the vision and motto we will continue,” Donna said.

Rogers Insurance Agency wants to have a hometown block party-type celebration to recognize their 50th year.

“We will have live music, clowns, cornhole games, food and drinks, and lots of giveaways,” Donna said. “We just want to celebrate with the entire community anybody who has ever had, wants to have, or will have any help with our success in the past or future. We will also have a radio broadcast from 1-3 prior. “
