Vernon JROTC holds flag retirement ceremonies

VERNON – Vernon High School and Middle School JROTC program conducted a flag retirement ceremony at Vernon Middle School on May 20.  

  “This ceremony honored the history and emphasized the importance of the American flag,” said JROTC instructor, Major Bill Chomos. 

  “The purpose of the event is to demonstrate proper respect and to educate and encourage young Americans to properly dispose of a flag when it is no longer serviceable.”
